Discovery
There are many ways people can dig into the vast collection of websites that have been hand-picked by Spurl.net users. The library currently holds more than 1.1 million websites and is growing rapidly.
Apart from the search, the most powerful ways to discover new things in the library are found under the "Discover" tab on the Spurl.net website. It currently holds six "digging tools":
- New spurls: The most recent, public spurls.
- Hot spurls: The most spurled pages. The default timeframe is 3 days, but you can change the period to see hot lists for 1 day, a week, a month or even all the way from the beginning.
- Fresh and hot: These are the most spurled, recently discovered pages. While the Hot spurls list will often hold well known, popular pages, this list always has fresh content that has recently cought the attention of Spurl.net users.
- Random spurl: A single, random page from the Spurl.net collection. The more often a page has been spurled, the more likely it is to show up here.
- Recommendations: (Only when signed in). Pages Spurl.net recommends to you by comparing the pages you have spurled to the pages from people with similar interests.
- Topics: Recently spurled pages by topics. This part is still in an experimental phase.
In addition to these tools a couple of other tools are accessible from individual spurl information. By expanding an entry in any of the lists mentioned above, or in fact any list on Spurl.net you will see more information about that website. This gives you, among other things the possibilities to:
- Look up other pages from the same domain by clicking the domain name.
- Look up related pages by clicking the Related pages from the tools on the right hand side.
Also note that the right hand side tools give you access to options such as emailing the page to someone else, looking up Spurl.net's cached copies of the page and viewing the full details for that page.
From the full details you have simple access to a lot of external tools to look up additional information about the page, such as web page cache from different services, traffic and server information, translations and more.
